Now Everyone Can Try China's Great Firewall At Home
In its post, "The Great Firewall of China: Coming to a Browser Near You," Sinosplice alerts us to a new Mozilla Firefox that allows one to "have the frustration of the Great Firewall of China in the comfort of" one's own home:
The Firefox add-on China Channel offers internet users outside of China the ability to surf the web as if they were inside mainland China. Take an unforgetable virtual trip to China and experience the technical expertise of the Chinese Ministry of Information Industry (supported by western companies). It’s open source, free and easy.

Ah, I miss the inconvenience of the internet in China... That actually sounds very useful for various folks, and not just for the paranoid.

I have to say that after the Olympics everything has soften a lot. Before I was unable to see any blogspot, wordpress page, wikipedia or bbcnews and now I can surf them from home without doing anything special.
So I guess that now Chinese firewall is nothing compared to what it used to be 4 months ago.

They only blocked the BBC because they released a program accusing the government of allowing orphans to starve to death - with graphic evidence. As soon as the BBC do it again, they'll be blocked again, if they aren't blocked already that is.

Still plenty being blocked - including my own cafepress T shirt shops, and it's costing me money! (Still plenty of censorship where T shirts are concerned too)...
Yay mental hygiene!

Does the firefox plugin come with browser crashes? I don't think that's a Golden Shield feature...
