World Class China Brands. Now, Later, Or Never?
Great discussion budding over at the Linkedin China Law Blog Group among some really knowledgeable China people on whether there really is such a thing as top Chinese brands in the worldwide market and if and when there will be such a thing.
David Dayton of Silk Road International blog started the discussion by laying down the gauntlet by proclaiming not now and not likely later either. He then he took the ball with him by posting on it over at his own blog in a post entitled, "Famous Chinese brands and other things you've never heard of."
I urge you all to go here to join the fun.

There isn't going to be a famous Chinese brand. All Media is censored so they don't get "advertising, marketing" because they are run by the state. They have plenty of money but Creativity can't be bought. You need to be free to be creative.

There is a certain ethnocentricity the Chinese people, as one of the oldest races on the planet, share and that truly limits their ability to brand better in some global markets right now, however, it is both foolish and ignorant to say Chinese companies will never have as much or enough creativity to brand well. No matter what the poltical system, economic conditions, and general state of the society, the spirit of creativity can not be snuffed out and this "creative potential" exists in everyone who walks the face of the earth. All it takes is passion, motivation, focus, drive, experience and as far as I can see, Chinese people (like everyone else) possess it in abundance.
Thanks,
