2009 China Holiday Schedule
CnReviews nicely sets out China's holiday schedule for 2009. Knowing me, I will probably remember to consult it only when nobody is responding to my emails/phone calls.
The key dates are as follows:
January 1-2 New Year's
January 25-30 Chinese New Year
April 4-6 Qingming Holiday
May 1 Labor Day
May 28-29 Duanwu Holiday
October 1-8 National Day
Just remember, January, April, May and big-time in October.
Oh, one more date. January 2 is the last day you can vote for this blog here.

Dan,
You've got the last two holidays wrong. May 28-29 should be Duanwu Holiday; October 1-8 National Day.

I heard a rumor that you employ those too young to vote for your blog and feed them poisoned jelly donuts; that's not true is it?
Hey and the other guys does have Paris, Dan, you definitely need a celebrity endorsement.

I have been stumped more than once as to the best time to travel to China on business. Knowing the holiday schedule is the first step, but what does it mean for business? When does one expect a PO to shake loose or a deal to be wrapped up. In the US, good times are Sept, Dec and end of March. I once made the foolish assumption that the Chinese would want to clear as much off their desks before Chinese New Year. Any suggestions?
