Chinese Communism Versus Inflation
Very interesting article, entitled, "China returns to communist-style controls to cool inflation in market economy," in the International Herald Tribune on the efforts Beijing is making to try to cool China's inflation.
Will it work?
I wish it would, but I don't think it will.
Ariana Eunjung Cha at the Washington Post has an interesting article, entitled, "Rising Costs in China Seep Into U.S. Market: Importers Pay More or Cancel Orders," on how manufactured goods prices in China just keep rising and on how some are opting out for other countries like Cambodia.

Inflation is just a price of economic development, but apparently the CCP comb-overs can't understand that.

If Beijing is smart, it's just a stopgap measure. It'll fail soon enough, but hopefully it'll buy time for people to decide on monetary policy.

Also, CED is unbelievable. Do you think Zhongnanhai will figure out how to get inflation under control before the pot boils over? They've already resorted to quotas and other old-style methods to enforce stealth-inflation...
Strangely enough, if you consider rationing, it's a progressive subsidy. Time is precious for everyone, yet the time of the rich costs more than the time of the poor. To add another level of time costs to the buying system is just another way to subsidize the poor.

Inst, is the Bush tax give-away not "progressive subsidy"?
Honestly, when our economy hits hard times, what do we do? We call it "market oversight", "intervention". Goodness anything but "command" or "communism", as it seems.

Socialism or barbarism. China is dropping socialist and progressive policy for Market orientated policy, and the masses are feeling the harm...let us not lose site of the big picture and for a glorious and harmonious nation in the future
