Dezan Shira's 15 Years In China
Fifteen years, Fifteen banners united over the field Where the good shepherd grieves. Desperate men, desperate women divided, Spreading their wings 'neath the falling leaves.Fortune calls.
I stepped forth from the shadows, to the marketplace,
Merchants and thieves, hungry for power, my last deal gone down.
She's smelling sweet like the meadows where she was born,
On midsummer's eve, near the tower.
Bob Dylan, The Changing of The Guards (slightly modified)
The Dezan Shira Consultancy turned 15 years old last week, a nearly unprecedented feat for a foreign owned service business in China. As one would expect of a company around that long in China and, particularly one led by Chris Devonshire-Ellis, the company has many great stories to tell. Fortunately, they are being told, in a 15th anniversary book entitled, "The Story of a China Practice." Fifteen years ago in China is like ancient history there (I will need Jeremiah to tell me whether that was the Qing or Ming period).
A big shout out to Chris and to Dezan Shira.

I have heard Chris Devonshire-Ellis is neither an attorney nor an accountant. Can you explain?
