President Bush And The Beijing Olympics Explained

Posted by Dan on September 14, 2007 at 06:15 AM

Not really.

But maybe after enough comments have been left here, it will be. My friend Chris Carr over at the China MBA Trip blog has a post up (probably mostly for his MBA students), entitled, "Comrades, Sport is Pure!! Yeah, Right … and I’m Warren Buffet," asking a slew of interesting questions relating to President Bush's decision to go to Beijing for the 2008 Olympics.

I too have been wondering about all this and I am hoping that the comments there will give answers. So go there and express yourself.

I'm glad there is finally some realistic responses to Chris Carr's panda-licking posts. Bush accepted the invitation in the name of diplomacy and maintaining a positive atmosphere at APEC, to rebuke Hu would have a tenuous situation very sour, but it is always easy to come with a last minute reason to not come.

Hi Dan.

Thanks for the post.

Since a bizillion people read your blog, and if they read happen to read this comment, all should know that our MBA trip blog is for students AND non-students.

In time, I should explore renaming it and/or reformatting it to better signal that.

The insight of others is often very helpful to our business students to see and learn from.

Keep up the great work.

Cheers.

Just a recognition by the big boy on the block of the new kid/challenger. Remember what Vito Corleone said, "Keep your friends close, but your ... closer."

The way things are going I wouldn't be surprised Bush returns to US on the second day of Olympics and drops by Iraq on the way too.
