China's Media Restrictions On Foreigners -- Never Mind, Again
About a month ago I jumped on a big story about China restricting foreign media, in a post entitled, China Restricts Foreign Press Within China -- Is This New? That same day, I followed it up with a much longer post that quoted extensively from a Silicon Hutong post [go to September 10, 2006] that essentially said we should all just "cool the engines" because this new law was not likely to change anything. The next day I did a post on how the new law was actually just a policy directive that probably would never amount to anything.
A few hours ago, Forbes Magazine put the last nail in the coffin of the "tightening of foreign media story" in this just published story saying there have been no changes, and almost certainly will be no changes, in foreign media restrictions in China.
Never mind. Again.
