Business China 2006 -- San Antonio, TX, October 24, 2006
On October 24, The University of Texas at San Antonio (USTA) International Trade Center and the Free Trade Alliance - San Antonio will be putting on the conference, "Business China 2006: Unlocking Chinese Trade Opportunities for Texas Businesses," on the essentials of doing business in China. Presentation topics will include Chinese business culture and communication, export financing, customs, legal issues, payment strategies, market entry and South Texas logistical options.
The following will be presenting:
- San Antonio Mayor, Phil Hardberger, and Houston Chinese Consulate General, Hua Jinzhou, will deliver the opening remarks.
- Betsy Neidel of Blue Heron Holdings will speak on "China in the World Economy: Past, Present , and Future."
- Catherine Farris of Catherine Farris & Associates will speak on China Business Culture.
- Bruce Miller of Port of San Antonio and Armando Palos, of Port of Lazaro-Cardenas, Mexico will speak on South Texas-Mexico-China Competitive Positioning.
- Field Barnes, of RF Barnes Customs Brokers, will speak on U.S. Customs and Due Diligence.
- Simon L. Tang, of Williams, Birnberg & Anderson, will speak on legal issues and IPR (Intellectual Property Rights)
- Cecil Carter of Wells Fargo Bank, will speak on payment methods.
- Bill Holz of Intertek ETL Semko will speak on China Compulsory Certificate (CCC) Mark for US Exporters
- Randy Penn of Penn International will speak on "Financing Export Activities."
- Mark Pitts of Synovate Business Consulting, Walter Groff of the Southwest Research Institute, Paul Cravens of Earth Tech Engineering, David Garcia of Vtech Communications, and Dr. Pat Watkins of the University of Incarnate Word, will all be speaking on "Local Perspectives on Doing Business with China."
Too far away for me to attend, but I would love to hear more about the Texas-Mexico-China connection as I see Mexico/Latin America as a rapid growth area for businesses going into China, particularly in textiles and electronics.
